Emma Stone clarifies she will not be playing Miss Piggy in her forthcoming movie with Jennifer Lawrence
Emma Stone recently confirmed that she will not be playing Miss Piggy in her forthcoming movie with Jennifer Lawrence.
In her interview with W Magazine, which was published on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, the 37-year-old American actress and film producer announced that she will not be portraying Miss Piggy in the upcoming film, which she is co-producing with longtime friend Lawrence.
Voicing her thoughts, Stone said, "First of all, that is the biggest insult to Miss Piggy I've ever heard, and I will not have her name dragged through the mud like that. Why would I play a literal star? She's the greatest.”
"No, of course I'm not playing Miss Piggy. And neither is Jen. We pale in comparison. Are you out of your mind? Miss Piggy is playing Miss Piggy. She would be storming out right now at the mere suggestion,” The Amazing Spider-Man star affirmed.
For those unaware, Lawrence first announced that she and Stone are making a movie about the iconic Muppet character on Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang’s podcast, Las Culturistas, in November 2025.
"I don’t know if I can announce this, but I am going to … Emma Stone and I are producing a Miss Piggy movie and Cole [Escola] is writing it," The Hunger Games star unveiled at that time.
It is pertinent to mention that the forthcoming Miss Piggy movie will be the first project of Emma Stone and Jennifer Lawrence together.
