Laura Benanti reveals why she doesn't want her kids in show business
Laura Benanti wants her children to pursue different careers
Laura Benanti recently revealed that her children are blessed with a natural talent for comedy.
At the Mayor of Kingstown season 4 New York City screening, the 46-year-old American actress and singer opened up about her daughters, 8-year-old Ella Rose and 3-year-old Louisa Georgia’s career choices and which one is likely to follow in her footsteps.
Referring to Ella, Benanti, who shares both of them with husband Patrick Brown, told PEOPLE magazine, “My older daughter now, she's very into sports. She's amazing at soccer, so that's become our family obsession.”
“But I will say the little one, who's 3, she's a natural comedian. She really gets it. She understands a joke. All she wants to do is play pretend,” the mother of two said of Louisa.
Even though her daughter has a knack for comedy, Benanti wants her children to explore completely different careers unrelated to the arts.
“I would rather they did not [go into show business]. I would rather they make their [own] way in a different [manner],” The Gilded Age star hoped.
However, she admitted that it is too early to say what their interests may be later on, as Ella was first into arts before joining sports.
“That's how Ella was when she was younger, so maybe she'll grow out of it,” quipped Laura Benanti.
