Teyana Taylor reveals how she balanced culinary school with filming
The actress and singer shared how culinary school shaped her next career move
Teyana Taylor opened up about how she juggled between her culinary school and filming of One Battle After Another.
In a recent chat with Oscar Isaac during Variety's Actor on Actors interview, the 34-year-old multi-hyphenate revealed how she managed the filming and her school work as a soon-to-be-chef.
"It’s actually the thing that gives me a few [minutes] to just be quiet and cook. It’s an art," she began.
The Golden Globe nominee went on to say, "But when I signed up and realized I had business classes and all other types of s***, I was like, 'Oh, s***, baby.' So now I’m on my way to the One Battle After Another premiere on my iPad, doing schoolwork."
"Culinary school and working with PTA really geared me up. I feel like I’m going to be a great director. It might sound weird, like, 'All this from learning how to make a steak?'" she noted
In response, Isaac said, "I think you’re the coolest person I’ve ever met in my life. You’re so astounding — all the energy to do this."
"It's all about balance," Taylor replied.
During a previous appearance at Jimmy Kimmel Live, the Escape Room star shared insights into her virtual classes.
"I get to do it online, which is actually harder because you don't have your chef there to say, 'No, fix this, fix this. It's kind of like, 'Figure it out,'" Taylor revealed, proudly adding that she is a "straight A student."
