Peter Greene, best known for villainous roles as Zed in "Pulp Fiction" and Dorian Tyrell in "The Mask," has died at the age of 60.
Greene was found unresponsive in his Lower East Side apartment in Manhattan on Friday after neighbors reported hearing loud Christmas music playing for days, prompting a wellness check.
A neighbor told the New York Daily News that Greene was discovered face down on the floor with facial injuries and blood present.
Police said no foul play is suspected, and the New York City medical examiner's office will determine the cause of death.
Greene had a documented history of drug addiction in the 1990s, including struggles with heroin and cocaine, a 1996 suicide attempt, and a 2007 arrest for crack cocaine possession, though no reports link this to his death.
His longtime manager, Gregg Edwards, called the passing a shock, describing Greene as a talented character actor with upcoming projects and a gentle off-screen personality.
As fans paid tribute to Peter Greene following his death on social media many quoted the iconic "Pulp Fiction" line "Zed's dead, baby. Zed's dead."
The line was delivered by Bruce Willis, who played Butch Coolidge in the film.
Unfortunately, Bruce Willis himself has been battling frontotemporal dementia since his 2023 diagnosis.
"Second death from the mask movie that was sad. The other guy that was Jim's co-worker friend in the movie committed suicide," said a fan on X.
Another said, "Met him when I first moved to LA in 2000. He was a very nice, very bright dude. We hung out for a year and then I never really saw him again. Thought about him a lot. RIP."
One user said, "One of the first movies I’ve seen when I was a kid. Sad RIP "
