Jeremy Allen White gets high praise for Bruce Springsteen portrayal
Eric Robinson, the producer behind 'Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere', reflects on Jeremy Allen White's performance
Several facets of Bruce Springsteen are explored in his biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere—one of them is his mental health challenges.
This is the point Eric Robinson, the film's producer, praises about how well Jeremy Allen White portrays the musician, who had these issues.
"I think from the start, Jeremy approached that role as this man, this emotional man — who just happens to be Bruce Springsteen — and everything that comes with it. So we’re very fortunate that his performance conveys somebody living with mental health issues, which he accomplished in such a beautiful way," he tells Variety.
Eric also adds that Bruce himself is vocal about his challenges with mental health, stating, “Bruce has also been so vocal about it in his book, in his interviews; he doesn’t shy away from that. He’s a man. He’s a human being."
But reportedly, he was not initially open about this. However, it was his manager, Jon Landau, who convinced him to seek therapy when he was beset with such thorny issues.
“And by confronting that vulnerability, and by confronting his internal life that wound up with Nebraska, he was able to alchemize his trauma through his art into this beautiful masterpiece,” the producer adds.
Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere was released in cinemas last October, and critics, in particular, praised Jeremy's performance.
