Miley Cyrus weighs in on Billy Ray Cyrus' 'narcissism'
Miley Cyrus shared the complicated influences her father had on her personality
Miley Cyrus, who recently revealed her engagement to Maxx Morando, has reportedly reconciled with her estranged father, Billy Ray Cyrus.
Reports have established that Billy Ray's new partner, Elizabeth Hurley, played a key role in helping mend the family rift.
Reflecting on her journey with her father, the 31-year-old Grammy-winning singer shared insights during a June 2024 appearance on David Letterman's Netflix series My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.
Cyrus spoke candidly about both the positive and negative lessons she has learned from Billy Ray.
“She has a relationship and a foot on the ground to the real and to nature and he always did, even when he was super famous,” Miley noted, highlighting her father’s grounded approach despite fame.
For context, the Cyrus family tensions escalated after Miley's mother, Tish Cyrus, filed for divorce from Billy Ray in April 2022, creating a period of estrangement between father and daughter.
Cyrus added, “I'm grateful for being able to watch him ahead of me. He's almost given me this map. And there's a map of what to do and what not to do, and he's guided me on both.”
She also admitted, “I also inherited the narcissism from my father,” offering a candid reflection on the complexities of their relationship.
