'The Simpsons' officially closes the curtain on THIS character
'The Simpsons' bids farewell to a recurring character
The Simpsons’ seventh episode of the season 37 revealed the death of one of the longest-running recurring character.
In the episode titled Sashes to Sashes, Springfield’s First Church organist Alice Glick collapsed mid-sermon and passed away on her beloved organ.
Her sudden death turned out to be the emotional centerpiece of the episode.
It sparked a storyline which involved her estate left to Springfield Elementary to fund a new music program.
A plot twist followed when Mayor Qimby’s son tried to redirect the funds towards a three-day musical festival.
This led to Lisa Simpson uncover family secrets and urge Bart to run for student council president.
Ultimately, Alice’s wishes were honoured.
In past too, characters were killed off only to return in the following episodes of seasons.
Mrs. Glick also died before by a rogue robot seal in season 23.
However, the executive producer, Tim Long confirmed her departure is permanent.
"In a sense, Alice the organist will live forever, through the beautiful music she made,” shared Long.
Leaving no doubt, Long mentioned that she is ‘dead as a doornail’.
The character first appeared in Season 2’s Three Men and a Comic Book.
She remained part of the show for 35 seasons.
