Dwayne Johnson set to receive prestigious honour in 2026
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson will be celebrated for his new career milestones
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will soon add a new distinction to his growing list of honours.
The Smashing Machine star is slated to be honoured at the 8th American Black Film Festival Honors in February, 2026.
The 53-year-old American actor and professional wrestler will receive the Entertainment Icon Award at the 2026 ABFF Honors.
Presented by Nice Crowd, the upcoming star-studded ceremony will take place on February, 16 at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills.
Reflecting on their decision to honour the Moana voice actor, Nice Crowd co-CEOs and presidents Jeff Friday and Nicole Friday had nothing but praise for him.
"Dwayne Johnson is the very definition of an entertainment icon," they said. "From his trailblazing career in sports entertainment to his extraordinary success in film and television, he has become one of the most influential and beloved figures in global culture."
The executives added, "We are thrilled to honor him with this year’s Entertainment Icon Award and to celebrate his incredible contributions to the world of entertainment."
Most recently, Johnson starred in A24’s The Smashing Machine, directed by Benny Safdie, as MMA fighter Mark Kerr.
In addition, earlier this month the first teaser of Disney’s live-action Moana, featuring Johnson and newcomer Catherine Laga'aia, was also unveiled, sending fans into a frenzy.
Johnson voiced the demigod Maui in the animated films Moana (2016) and Moana 2 (2024), and is set to reprise the role in the 2026 live-action remake.
