Skyler Gisondo’s Jimmy Olsen from ‘Superman’ set for spinoff series
‘Superman’ spinoff series will focus on Daily Plant reporters investigating evil metahumans
James Gunn’s hit project Superman is expanding its universe beyond the films.
Following the last summer’s film, DC Studios is set to make a spin off series based on Skyler Gisondo’s Jimmy Olsen.
Jimmy Olsen is a Daily Planet photographer and is close friends with Lois Lane and Clark Kent.
The TV show is set to focus on the character and other Daily Planet reporters as they investigate cases involving villainous metahumans.
Season one reportedly will be centered around DC bad guy Gorilla Grodd, who often wrestles The Flash. Grodd had psychic powers and other skills after his encounter with an alien spaceship.
Previously, Gunn during the premiere of Superman, teased plans for Grodd. When asked if Lex Luthor’s smart monkeys from that story were related Grodd’s origin, the filmmaker said, "No, no, no. Because I know exactly what that is. I love Gorilla Grodd, so got other plans for that guy. He's not a monkey, he's an ape!"
Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda, the creators of the Netflix mockumentary series American Vandal, will write, executive-produce, and showrun the project.
In addition to that the series will not feature David Corenswet's Clark Kent or Rachel Brosnahan's Lois Lane.
While the series is in making, DC Studios will next be releasing Milly Alcock’s Supergirl movie (26 June,2026),Clayface (September 11, 2026) and Superman’s Man of Tomorrow (July 9, 2027).
