NYC Mayor-elect, 34-year-old Zohran Mamdani, and American actor and rapper 50 Cent have been having bizarre witty quips and a sudden hip-hop feud that suddenly went viral.
While the win was a historic, celebratory moment, marking the city’s first Muslim mayor, one of Queens’ own most famous exports—50 Cent—immediately made it clear he wasn’t celebrating.
34-year-old NYC mayor Zohran Mamdani defeated Andrew Cuomo in a historic fight.
While the victory made headlines across the world, one notable Queens native, 50 Cent, wasn’t impressed. Here’s why.
Hours after Mamdani’s election win, 50 Cent took to his Instagram handle and shared an AI-generated image of a tombstone that reads, “RIP NYC. Founded 1624. Died 2025.”
He captioned it, “I think intentions are good, but his tax plan is gonna run the big money out of the city and if he defunds the police they are gonna purge.”
The post soon went viral and generated buzz on across social media platforms and so far it has been liked by over 400,000 users.
The rapper didn’t hold it back on just one quip, in another post, which he later deleted, shared a photo of a red Yankee hat beside his Branson cognac bottle with the caption: “New York is over pack it up. Let’s go! THE MAN’S first job is Mayor MAMDANI run New York…I need a drink!”
On the next day, November 5, Mayor-elect Mamdani finally broke his silence.
While appearing on CNN, he said, “Even though we have a disagreement on tax policy, every time I get a death threat, I still listen to Many Men. It’s true.”
The jab, a reference to 50 Cent’s 2003 classic, instantly trended—a witty, self-aware clapback that won hearts on social media.
As the NYC mayor-elect gears up to take office on January 1, 2026, he appears to be determined to revamp New York’s economy and close the wealth gaps.
But his ability to mix humor with politics—turning a celebrity feud into a playful moment—is generating major buzz online.
