The American football community is shocked after hearing the sudden death of NFL star Marshawn Kneeland.
As reported by ESPN, the American footballer died at the age of 24 in an apparent suicide attempt on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.
The Frisco Police Department in Texas reported that Kneeland appeared to have taken his own life after a vehicle pursuit and multi-agency search on Wednesday night.
Security officers were informed that Kneeland had ‘expressed suicidal intentions’ before he was found dead.
Kneeland had crashed his car and then fled on foot, police confirmed in a statement.
According to sources, the Texas Department of Public Safety DPS located a vehicle that evaded troopers during a pursuit that entered the city on Wednesday night.
The department confirmed Kneeland died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound following a police pursuit in Texas.
The DPS tried to stop him for a traffic violation before losing sight of his vehicle, but failed.
After some time, DPS troopers found Kneeland's vehicle crashed on the southbound Dallas Parkway near Warren Parkway, and he was found dead in a nearby portable toilet.

However, the actual cause of death is yet to be confirmed by the Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The National Football League NFL offered condolences, and the Cowboys also expressed their grief.
The NFL community said, “It is deeply saddened.”
“The passing of Marshawn Kneeland deeply saddens the NFL Players Association. His impact on those around him was immeasurable, and his loss is felt profoundly across our community," said the National Football League.
The Dallas Cowboys team said, “Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organisation-our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family.”
Kneeland's agent, Jonathan Perzley, expressed his "heartache" for the sudden death of a player who poured his heart into every moment.
After playing college football for Western Michigan, Kneeland was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2024 NFL Draft.
"I watched him fight his way from a hopeful kid at Western Michigan with a dream to being a respected professional for the Dallas Cowboys," said Perzley.
Kneeland was a defensive lineman for the Dallas Cowboys and played 18 games.
In addition, he scored his first touchdown on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, in a loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
His next match was due on November 17, 2025.
