New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, fresh off his historic victory, announced an all-female leadership team for his transition team, including former Federal Trade Commission chair Lina Khan on Wednesday.

The team is designed to demonstrate its dedication to both progressive reform and institutional competence.

The team of co-chairs includes Khan, former first deputy mayor Maria Torres-Springer, United Way of New York City head Grace Bonilla, and Melanie Hartzog, a former deputy mayor for health and human services, who oversaw the city’s social service agencies.

In this connection Mandani said, “We will speak to the organizers on the front lines of the fight to improve our city government, veterans with proven track records, policy experts from around the country and the world to know better than anyone with their neighbors need.”

Mandani further called on his supporters to donate again to his cause, in order to fund the transition and prepare for January 1.

For that purpose, his transition team will require staff, research, and infrastructure: all of which need funding to achieve the required goal.

Moreover, Mamdani was interested in having a thoughtful conversation with President Trump on working together and serving New Yorkers, delivering campaign promises and improving the lives of the people of the city.

The recent announcement of an all-female transition leadership team accentuates a dynamic blend of progressive reforms and underscores deep institutional competency as he prepares to govern New York City.
