Cher reveals what she thinks of her old self: 'Hate it'
Cher also discussed about her 40-year age gap romance
Cher isn’t really liking her aged self.
In a candid conversation with Gayle King for CBS Mornings, the 79-year-old music icon opened up about her thoughts on aging — and she didn’t hold back. When King asked, “I keep waiting for this grown-up feeling to kick in. And I don’t have any hang-ups about aging. Do you?”
Cher quickly responded, “Yes. I hate it.” She then playfully added, “I’m 10 years older than you, babe,” referring to the 70-year-old CBS anchor.
King attempted to highlight the positives of getting older, suggesting, “But I think we’re wiser. We’re more experienced.” However, Cher wasn’t convinced, admitting with her trademark humor, “Oh, I’m stupid. I’m not wiser.”
Despite her feelings about aging, the legendary performer shows no signs of slowing down after more than six decades in the entertainment industry. Cher is currently working on her next album — her first set of original songs since 2013 — while also running her new gelato brand, Cherlato.
Additionally, she’s preparing to release the second part of her memoir next year, continuing to share her remarkable journey with fans.
During the same interview, Cher also spoke openly about her relationship with music executive and producer Alexander Edwards, who is 40 years her junior.
“Nobody knows what goes on between us, but we just have a blast,” she shared. “He just says, you know, you get older, but he said your spirit is younger.”
Cher added that their connection works effortlessly because they “laugh all the time.” She praised Edwards, saying, “I think he’s beautiful. He’s really talented. He’s one of the most talented persons I’ve ever met.”
