Kate Beckinsale thanks ‘Wildcat’ crew for ‘kindness’ amid mom’s sickness
Kate Beckinsale’s ‘Wildcat’ crew ‘treated’ late mom Judy Loe like ‘queen’
Kate Beckinsale is expressing heartfelt gratitude to the team behind her new film, Wildcat, for the support they showed her during one of the hardest moments of her life.
On Oct. 29, the 52-year-old actress shared a series of photos on Instagram showing her late mother, Judy Loe, visiting the movie’s set.
The film was shot before Loe died in July at age 78.
Beckinsale wrote that the experience became especially meaningful because her mother was treated with so much warmth during her time there.
“Not only the best cast and crew but also the last movie set my mum was able to visit me on and my God they treated her like the queen she was. And supported me being her carer [sic] at night and working during the day which was a lot. Thank you. I’ll never forget the kindness x,” she shared.
Her mother’s death was announced by Beckinsale on July 17 in an emotional post just two days after Loe’s passing.
She described her mother as “the compass of my life ,the love of my life, my dearest friend.”
Opening up about the difficult night Loe died, Beckinsale explained, “I don’t want to post this. I am only posting this because I have had to register my mother‘s death certificate and it will soon become public record. She died the night of July 15th in my arms after immeasurable suffering.”
The actress admitted she has been unable to look through many memories yet, writing that she hadn’t picked “all the best photos” because she “cannot bear to go through my camera roll yet.”
She apologized to any loved ones learning the news online, saying she hasn’t been able to go through her mother’s phone. “I am paralysed,” she added.
Just days before Loe’s passing, Beckinsale shared a tender video of herself singing to her mother in the hospital, a nod to the harmony group Loe belonged to as a teenager.
Loe was an actress, as was Beckinsale’s father, Richard Beckinsale. Kate was their only child.
Through her grief, she’s continued to honour her mother’s legacy while celebrating the care and compassion she received from her Wildcat family.
