Kensington Palace reacts to Prince William’s meeting with Beatrice, Eugenie

Prince William, who had been prominently involved in the latest action taken against his disgraced uncle Prince Andrew, had seemingly “threatened” his cousins Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie during a secret meeting.

The Prince of Wales allegedly instructed his cousins to persuade their father into leaving Royal Lodge, journalist Emily Maitlis claimed in a recent podcast.

Emily, who conducted the infamous Newsnight interview with Andrew, had shared how there was a tip from the Buckingham Palace about “passing traffic” outside Royal Lodge, but it was pulled out last minute.

She suggested that William told the sisters that if Andrew didn’t move out of the 30-room Windsor property, he would “re-examine” their royal titles as well. The story had picked up quickly given the magnitude of the incident.

However, when Kensington Palace was reached out for a comment by The Mirror, they firmly dispelled that any such meeting had taken place.

They confirmed that “no meeting between Prince William and the princesses took place, and said it would also be factually inaccurate to say the Prince of Wales can remove titles. Constitutionally he cannot”. 

Claims from Emily had come as pressure was building with calls for action to finally remove Andrew from Royal Lodge. The former Duke of York had been holding on to his 75-year lease on the expansive royal home as a last symbol of his privileged life after relinquishing his titles and honours earlier this month.

It has not yet been confirmed officially, but reports have suggested that Andrew will be moved into Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s former home, Frogmore Cottage.

It comes as pressure is mounting on Andrew to be hauled in front of MPs over his Royal Lodge lease - as the King was heckled by a protestor over his disgraced brother yesterday.
