Jim Parsons looks back on difficult time while filming ‘Big Bang Theory’
Jim Parsons starred as eccentric physicist Sheldon Cooper in ‘The Big Bang Theory’
Jim Parsons recalled his time on set of his TV series The Big Bang Theory.
The Hidden Figures actor starred as rigid and egocentric physicist Sheldon Cooper in the series.
While the hit comedy sitcom became one of the best series, the cast initially had fears of the show might not be making till the finale.
During its first season the writers went on a strike for indefinite time period, halting the production.
In conversation with US Weekly, Parsons said, "I remember our first season, after about seven or eight episodes, the writers went on strike and they told us we were going to go off. We wouldn’t be doing any more until it was over."
"We were all so upset by it," he continued. "It wasn’t about fearing for our jobs. It was that we were already so enjoying this show and really felt we had something."
However, the break turned out to be a blessing in disguise as the strike ended up working very much in their favour.
The Golden Globe winner said, "More people got to watch us in reruns and [when] we came back to [it], it became a bigger thing, but we didn’t know that at the time."
"We got very fortunate," he added.
The Big Bang Theory ran for 12 seasons from September 24, 2007 to May 16, 2019.
