Viral ‘Aerofoot’ flying sneakers clip confirmed as AI-generated
A video circulating on social media showing viral 'Aerofoot' flying shoes has been proven to be an AI -generated illusion
A viral video circulating on social media and promoting “Aerofoot” flying sneakers shows a piece of conceptual digital art that appears to allow a person to lift off the ground and “fly” using just the shoes.
Upon investigation, the footage does not show a real, functioning product but is rather digitally created content.
The viral post circulating on social media shows a man wearing sleek, glowing shoes branded as “Aerofoot”, and he appears to take off a small platform and levitate a few feet above the ground in what appears to be an expo hall with attendees in conventional attire.
However, the link to the title “GITEX” (a tech exhibition) and the visionary nature of the showcase have contributed to the video gaining traction on various platforms.
Upon analyzing the reverse image search feature to trace the emergence of the video, we found that the individual behind the Aerofoot videos is identified as Jyo John Mulloor, a digital artist based in Dubai who founded JJM AI Studio. He is involved in setting the new standards of modern art and storytelling.
It has been observed that despite the viral footage on social media, there is no particular evidence of any registered company manufacturing Aerofoot shoes and no credible reports from renowned technology media about a working prototype.
Keeping in view the engineering perspective, a person flying simply by wearing shoes is currently not achievable, because modern batteries offer far too little energy density to power the thrust needed.
For instance, jet fuel has an energy density nearly 50 times higher than common lithium-ion batteries. This means that compact wearable devices such as “flying shoes” would further require further development in power-to-weight ratios that do not exist in current technology.
Nonetheless, the footage appears to be a generative art produced by a visual artist specializing in AI-generated content.
The intriguing idea of flying shoes will remain a vision for the future of mobility and firmly presents a concept rather than a reality.
