Denmark Princess Josephine's school encourages students to cook and eat healthy
Princess Josephine school choice marks a modern shift for the Danish Royal Family
Princess Josephine is currently enrolled in the boarding school Spir Efterskole, located in the small coastal town of Snaptun in Jutland.
The 14-year-old Danish royal is the youngest daughter of King Frederik and Queen Mary.
Previously, the Danish royal palace surprised many with this remarkable choice of school, as it marks the first time a member of the Danish royal family has attended an efterskole, a uniquely Danish form of boarding school where students aged 14 to 18 spend one or two years of their lower secondary education before progressing to the upper secondary studies.
The prestigious school takes a progressive approach to education and also promotes a healthy attitude toward school meals.
According to the school's official website, they opt for 'low-fat and nutritionally correct diet, adapted to the target group of 13 to 17-years-olds who are physically active' that also 'takes the climate into account.'
Meals include whole-grain bread and cereals, fruit and vegetables and potatoes, pasta or rice everyday.
The school also serves fish and vegetarian meals several times a week.
Over, it's a combination of low-fat dairy products, cheese and cold cuts with low-fat content.
One of the most interesting aspects of the school's approach is the involvement of students in the kitchen, where they help prepare the food, clear up, and wash dishes,' according to the school's website.
Princess Josephine's move signals a refreshing break from royal tradition, showcasing the modern and open-minded approach King Frederik and Queen Mary have taken in raising their children.
