With a strong and heartfelt return to WWE, former three times Divas Champion AJ Lee has made waves in the world of wrestling, taking her stage to send a revolutionary message regarding mental health.
Her comeback which started on September 5th SmackDown in Chicago, led into a very personal promo on the September 8th RAW in Milwaukee.
Speaking to the audience, Lee opens up about her personal struggles that made her leave the platform ten years ago.
She stated, “I felt like I had accomplished all of my dreams in wrestling. I was content. I hung up my Chuck Taylors, and I thought that was the end of my story.”
She told fans that there was “no way” she was going to step inside a ring again wearing jean shorts that are “two sizes too small.”
Lee then shed light on her transformation journey, sharing, “I was not healthy. I needed to take care of myself. I went to therapy.”
The crowd also showed immense support, and there was an unprecedented “therapy!” chant from the live audience.
Her mental health struggle resonated with many of her fans and she offered encouragement to all those who are still struggling, “The fight is not easy, Everyday is a fight, but let me tell you, if you are going through the same thing, the fight is worth it. You are worth it.”
However, the show took a competitive twist when Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch interfered with Lee, thus introducing a big tag team match.
Lee challenged Lynch and her husband, World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins for WWE WrestlePalooze on September 20, 2025.
