How to use WhatsApp AI writing feature: All you need to know
The AI feature of WhatsApp is designed to enhance the messaging experience
WhatsApp has recently introduced new AI-powered features to make the messaging experience better and more private. The new feature is called “Writing Help,” and is a part of a larger set of AI tools powered by Meta’s AI technology.
This writing tool will help to:
- Rephrase: Change the wording of your message.
- Proofread: Check for grammar and spelling mistakes.
- Change the tone: Make your message sound more professional, funny, or supportive.
To use this tool, a new pencil icon will appear while you are typing a message. By tapping it, you will get AI-generated suggestions. This means there is no need to use other apps like Gemini or ChatGPT to improve your text.
This feature can also generate summaries of long, unread chats, so you don’t have to read every single message. This is especially useful in busy group chats.
Furthermore, you can create custom backgrounds for your video calls using AI. Instead of using a blurry background or a preset image, you can ask AI to generate a unique background.
There is also a Meta AI assistant you can chat with directly in WhatsApp. It can provide recommendations, answer questions, or create images. You can also mention it in a group chat by typing “@Meta AI” to get a quick suggestion or answer.
WhatsApp has also emphasised that all these AI features are designed with privacy in mind. They use a special technology called “Private Processing.”
WhatsApp and its parent company, Meta, cannot read the original messages or the rewritten suggestions. Your personal calls and messages are still protected by end-to-end encryption.
These AI tools are turned off by default, and you must choose to use them.
Is Meta AI free to use?
