Meghan Markle, Prince Harry's joint brand is their biggest problem: Expert
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex present a 'conflict of interest' when they're 'together'
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry come as a “package deal,” and that’s exactly their problem.
PR strategist Edward Coram-James believes that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex need to keep their professional brands “separate” in order to move away from the “royal drama narrative.”
Speaking to Express.co.uk, Coram-James noted that both Harry, 40, and Meghan, 44, have their individual passion projects — Harry with his military and charity work and Meghan with her Hollywood projects. But when they come together, it’s their “joint brand is the problem.”
The PR expert explained, “When they are together, it’s a conflict of interest that confuses the public and provides an easy target for criticism.”
Coram-James, who is the CEO of Go Up, offered the Sussexes a simple solution: “From a PR standpoint, keeping their brands separate… creates clearer storylines for audiences.”
He added that separating their brands “allows them to move away from the royal drama narrative and build legacies on their work.”
The royal couple secured a fresh Netflix deal earlier this month. Their new agreement is reportedly a scaled-back “first-look” deal, giving Netflix priority on Sussex projects, unlike their original $100 million contract signed in 2020.
That initial deal saw major successes, including their record-breaking docuseries Harry & Meghan and Meghan’s new cooking show With Love, Meghan.
