4-year-old boy dies after being hit by bus outside Kent hospital
The deceased was a “sweet and charming boy,” said father
A four-year-old boy, Zahir Jan, died in a tragic accident. Outside the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital in Margate, the boy was hit by a bus as Zaahir left the hospital on foot.
The father of the late boy, Navid Feizi, remembered his son as a joyful child who “even when he was hurt, was always smiling and laughing.”
He shared that the family was visiting the grandmother who was hospitalized before the accident.
The eyewitness described the whole accident as extremely disturbing. Among the witnesses, Gillian Murphy, who is a patient at the hospital, stated: “It was very busy with cars, and the bus was having trouble getting through. Next thing I knew, he was under the bus.”
Police confirmed that Zahir was immediately taken back to the hospital but was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
The chief executive of East Kent Hospitals NHS Trust, Tracey Fletcher, expressed deep sorrow: “We are very saddened by yesterday's tragic incident and send our sincere condolences to the family.”
The bus company also released an official statement: “We can confirm that one of our buses was involved in a tragic incident within the grounds of Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother Hospital in Margate on Thursday. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the family and all those affected at this incredibly difficult time. We are cooperating fully with the ongoing police investigation and are ensuring that support is in place for our driver.”
Kent Police has urged everyone to share relevant information including video, CCTV footage, or dashcam footage to come forward as the investigation continues.
