MGK dishes on meeting Taylor Swift at major event
MGK recalls sharing sad moment with Taylor Swift
Machine Gun Kelly recalled how Taylor Swift almost attended his performance but fate had other plans.
The 35-year-old rapper revealed that the pop superstar, 35, and her boyfriend Travis Kelce were meant to attend his performance at the Super Bowl afterparty this year but the plan went down the drain with the Kansas City Chiefs’ devastating loss against Philadelphia Eagles.
In his new interview with ABC News, the Emo Girl hitmaker admitted that he was “stoked” for the couple attending the performance, as he recounted, "I was in Travis's suite, and at the beginning of it Taylor was like, 'Hell yeah we're gonna come watch you perform,' like it's gonna be crazy tonight."
However, what could have been a “legendary night” turned out to be a historic defeat in the Chiefs’ history.
"By the third quarter, dude, I was looking at that score I went up to Taylor I was like, 'Y'all aren't coming tonight, huh?' She was like 'I don't think so man. I'll see if I can get him to get out but I don't think [so]," continued the musician.
MGK went on to share that his upcoming song, Don’t Wait Run Fast, which has been dubbed as ESPN College Football’s unofficial anthem, was inspired by the Chiefs Super Bowl afterparty.
"The day after we performed for the Kansas City Chiefs... I went in the studio and I was like, 'We need one of those guitar riffs that can like bring life to something that there is no life in anymore,'" he said.
The song will be on Lost Americana, which is scheduled for release this Friday.
