Palace holds back on Prince George's school announcement due to sensitive issue
Prince George's next school is kept under wraps as Palace addresses concerns
Kensington Palace holds back on Prince George's next school amid concerns about the disruption such an announcement could cause.
Currently, Prince George, 11, along with his younger siblings Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, attend Lambrook School in Bracknell-a move they all made together in 2022.
Their enrolment aligned with the Wales family's relocation to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, after previously living at Kensington Palace in London.
Melanie Sanderson, Managing Editor of The Good Schools Guide, noted that the royal children's attendance significantly changed the dynamics,' of Lambrook School.
She explained: 'I know that when the Royal Family joined Lambrook, for example, there were a few grumbles about just everything being tightened up and the loss of a very sweet, quite small, family-focused school.
'Suddenly gates were locked. It was harder to drop a forgotten item off. Sports day becomes a grander occasion. The carol service each year becomes a grander occasion. It just changes the dynamic of the school.'
Sources close to Prince William and Princess Kate told that the couple is sensitive to the concerns of fellow parents.
This awareness likely contributes to the delay in publicly naming George's next school. Both William and Kate, aged 43, are known for zealously protecting their children's privacy while understanding the inevitable public curiosity surrounding the royal heirs.
As such, a formal announcement about Prince George's secondary school-where he will study from ages 13 to 18-is not expected until the last possible moment in 2026.
The young prince will celebrate his 12th birthday on July 22, 2025, and will begin his final academic year at Lambrook School in September.
