Princess Anne makes unexpected move at Garter Day service with bold choice
Princess Anne, stickler for royal rules, subtly breaks royal tradition in rare move
Princess Anne, who is known for her no-nonsense attitude and being a stickler for royal protocol, made a bold change during a key royal event on Monday.
King Charles’s sister joined the monarch and his wife, Queen Camilla, for annual Order of the Garter ceremony held at St George’s Chapel. Anne, dressed in her military regalia, walked alongside her nephew Prince William, brother, Prince Edward and uncle Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester.
While the Princess Royal followed every royal protocol for her attire, but she did make a subtle change in a bid to push boundaries in rare move.
The royals are known to keep their makeup simple and matte, and there is not a lot of shimmer involved. During the time of Queen Elizabeth, it was important that the senior royals wore a nude or clear nail polish to avoid any pomp. It is understood that same applied for other makeup products.
This time around, Queen Elizabeth’s only daughter seemed to have brought on a little shimmer, according to Acting Head of Beauty, Cassie Steer, at Hello! Magazine.
“Reimagining classic lipstick colours such as red or pink as sparkling focal points is great for special occasions,” she said adding that a metallic mouth “adds a modern lustre”.
Although, she pointed out that Anne’s metallic choice of lip should not be confused with more sedate shimmer.
“Leave it to Anne to push beauty boundaries in the chicest of ways,” Cassie told the outlet.
