An excited Princess of Wales unintentionally left Prince William hanging in a light-hearted moment during this year's Garter Day ceremony.

Kate, who missed last year's event while undergoing cancer treatment, made her much-welcomed return to witness the grand procession of the Ladies and Knights of the Garter through Windsor Castle grounds towards St George's Chapel.

Following royal tradition, King Charles and Queen Camilla led the parade from the rear, dressed in their signature white feathered hats and deep blue velvet robes, accompanied by other distinguished members of the order, including Prince William, Princess Anne, and Prince Edward.

As Kate and Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, are not members of the order, they watched form the Galilee Porch of the chapel-a customary spot to view the pageantry-as they watched waited for their husbands to pass by, reported Mirror.

As the elderly Military Knights of Windsor, who headed the procession, came into sight and made their way slow march past, Kate and Sophie seemed amused by something, sharing laughs and whispering to one another.

This moment of amusement meant that When Prince William appeared further up the path, he kept glancing towards Kate, but she was still absorbed in her conversation with the Duchess.

When Kate finally looked his way-dressed elegantly in a white Self-Portrait ensemble-William had already turned to chat with Prince Edward beside him, resulting in to the two royals missing each other's gaze.

However, they did not stay apart for long. After the ceremony at the chapel concluded, the Prince and Princess of Wales were seen riding together in a carriage back to Windsor Castle, enjoying each other's company once again.
