Buckingham Palace releases update as Queen Camilla makes announcement
Queen Camilla makes first appearance after making key decision on King Charles, Prince Harry feud
Queen Camilla returned to royal duties on Wednesday following the historic tour of Canada last week with King Charles.
The 77-year-old appeared in high spirits during her solo outing, as the patron of a charity, during which she made delightful announcement.
Buckingham Palace shared highlights from the recipe competition which encourages positive action for the planet.
“Celebrating community friendship and nature at Canary Wharf’s Eden Dock!” the statement read alongside footage from the event.
“As Patron of The Big Lunch, The Queen has joined people and projects from Tower Hamlets to celebrate the partnership between the @EdenProjectCornwall and @CanaryWharfLondon to transform Middle Dock into Eden Dock - a vibrant, biodiverse space which hosts community events.”
It added that the Big Lunch had kicked off the annual celebrations for neighbours and communities, taking place this weekend on the 7th and 8th June.
“During the event, Her Majesty announced the winner of The Big Lunch Recipe Search, a competition formed to unearth shareable dishes to inspire the nation to cook and eat together over the weekend,” it continued. “Congratulations to Melanie Booth and her butternut squash empanadas!”
The outing comes just as King Charles copes with the widening rift between his estranged son, Prince Harry, who famously insulted Camilla her as an ‘evil stepmother’ and a ‘villain’ in his memoir, Spare.
While Camilla has plenty to hold a grudge against Harry, royal insiders revealed that she is keeping a firm stance on the matter and plans to “stay out of the way” of the father and son as they deal with their issues.
