Farmhouse fire strikes Althorp estate, childhood home of Princess Diana
Blaze destroys farmhouse on Princess Diana's family estate, Althorp
Earl Charles Spencer has revealed that one of the farmhouses on the Spencer family's historic Althorp has been destroyed by fire.
The 61-year-old Earl, who is the younger brother of the late Princess Diana, shared the distressing update on social media, posting images of the blaze and its aftermath.
'Stunned to learn that one of @AlthorpHouse farmhouses-fortunately, unoccupied at the time-was reportedly burnt down by vandals last night,' he wrote on X.
He went on to thank the Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service for their efforts, adding, 'So very sad that anyone would think is a fun thing to do.'
Althorp has been under the care of Charles Spencer, the 9th Earl Spencer, since 1992.
Interestingly, the estate was also Princess Diana's home following her parents' divorce and before her marriage to the then Prince Charles.
Her final resting place is located on the grounds, on an island in the center of a serene lake.
