Sooraj Pancholi took a trip down memory lane, revealing how a surprise call from Salman Khan landed him a role in Ek Tha Tiger.
The Hero actor, who made his acting debut with the 2015 action-romance film, opened up about how he got the role of Assistant Director in the 2012 film Ek Tha Tiger.
In an exclusive conversation with Hindi Rush, the 34-year-old star recalled receiving a missed call during a lunch break while attending acting classes.
He added that when he called back, the person on the other end asked, “Sooraj, where are you?”
When Pancholi asked the caller’s identity, he was told, “Salman Khan. Come to Yash Raj”.
Speaking to the outlet, Pancholi said that he initially ended the call, thinking it was a prank.
However, he later found out the call was genuine when Arpita Khan Sharma confirmed to me that it was actually the superstar.
During the conversation the Kesari Veer star recalled rushing to the Yash Raj Films studio, where he once again received a call from Salman, 59 – who was standing right behind him.
The Indian actors then had a brief meeting, during which the Sikandar actor said, “I hope Kabir takes you. I’ll make you meet him. So cross your fingers. If he likes you, he’ll take you as an AD. You will learn a lot.”
Additionally, Pancholi revealed that he was eventually offered the role, which led to his selection for Khan’s production, Hero.
Ek Tha Tiger, starring Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, was released on August 15, 2012, and became a major blockbuster.
