Kanye West blames media as he urges court to delay trial
Kanye West requests LA judge to postpone Tony Saxon trial: Here’s why
Kanye West has recently made shocking revelations about not finding a lawyer due to negative media coverage.
According to court documents obtained by In Touch, the rapper urged the Los Angeles judge to delay his upcoming trial against his former employee Tony Saxon.
Kanye’s present lawyer Manoja Shah said that Tony reportedly filed his discrimination lawsuit in September 2023.
The rapper’s former lawyer, Brian Brumfield, stepped down from representing Ye in court in July 2024.
Brian at the time explained, “Ye terminated collaboration on 6/21/2024. [Ye] also will not speak to counsel and [Ye] refuses to pay counsel as well.”
Kanye’s attorney explained that the rapper “faced extreme hardship and difficulty retaining litigation counsel, due to exceedingly negative media coverage of Defendants”.
“Defendants were unable to retain counsel,” remarked Manoj.
Interestingly, Kanye hired a new lawyer named Eduardo Martorell who took up as a lead counsel for rapper cases.
However. Manoj believed that Eduardo needed more time, saying, “Ye’s extreme difficulties with retention of trial counsel” were addressed at a recent hearing.
Manoj revealed that the rapper set to engage Eduardo as his attorney for this case, only if “this court able to continue to the trial date and all related deadlines and cut-off dates
Meanwhile, Kanye’s legal team demanded the court to delay the trial date to August or “the next available date” from February 24.
