Kate Beckinsale speaks up after Ben Affleck's ‘drunk co-star’ comment
Kate Beckinsale responds to a fan’s comment about Ben Affleck on social media
Kate Beckinsale has recently addressed fans’ speculations about a “drunk co-star” who was “rough with her” on a movie’s set in the past.
The Prisoner’s Daughter actress addressed the “toxic” environment while working on the 2001 movie Pearl Harbor in the context of Blake Lively's lawsuit against Justin Baldoni over harassment on It Ends With Us set.
On December 30, Kate posted a video on Instagram in which she opened up about disturbing experiences in the entertainment industry.
Following her video, some of her followers believed that Kate could have been talking about her co-star Ben Affleck.
However, the Underworld actress rejected the claims as she replied to a fan who wrote, “Affleck maybe the drunk?”
“Ben Affleck protected me on an extremely toxic film set and could not have behaved more respectably,” said the 51-year-old.
Kate wrote, “I am not going to go into any more specific detail on who it was or wasn't because the most problematic part has not been the actors, it has been that reporting a problem or an abuse has resulted in a greater punishment than one could ever imagine.”
She continued, “That's the point — everybody says why didn't you tell someone well on the whole we have.”
“We have told our agents or managers and the head of the studio and this has usually also been witnessed by 30 to 100 people,” stated the Jolt actress.
Kate previously revealed that the actor “was so rough” with her and “he destroyed part of my costume” and “ripped my wig in half not to say covered me in bruises, winded me and scared me half to death”.
“Everybody was incredibly concerned. Shut the set down for several hours and was worried and upset,” she remarked.
The Fool’s Paradise actress mentioned, “As soon as I called the head of the studio, actually urged by my mother to do so because my instinct was not.”
After complaining about the incident, Kate confessed, “I was punished, ostracised and could not have wished harder I hadn't said anything which is just, not right on the entire reason I made this video in the first place.”
