Ariana Grande talks about how she manifested ‘Wicked’ role with pink wardrobe
Ariana Grande reveals she had to sing Elphaba's songs as well during her audition
Ariana Grande embraced Glinda’s style long before landing the role.
In a People-exclusive clip from Wicked’s digital release, the 31-year-old singer revealed she had stocked her closet with pink clothes "just incase" she became fortunate enough to get the role of her dreams.
She even went on to joke about her character’s garments, saying, "I was like, 'What underwear would Glinda wear today?'"
The We Can’t Be Friends hit-maker has always been vocal about being a part of the iconic musical.
In the footage, she said, "I had been chasing producer Marc Platt down for about 10 years, wondering when this movie was going to happen, when I would have the opportunity to audition."
Ariana recalled that when she heard they might start auditions, she knew it was her her time to shine and had to take on the opportunity.
She remembered her first audition included singing, No One Mourns the Wicked, Popular, and even Elphaba’s, played by Cynthia Erivo, songs like Defying Gravity and The Wizard and I.
"Weirdly, strangely, I sang for both Glinda and Elphaba," the popstar shared.
"I don't know why, I think we all kind of knew why I was going in, and it was for Glinda."
