Disney unveils live action 'Snow White' trailer with fresh perspective
Rachel Zegler sings her heart out in new 'Snow White' trailer
Disney finally revealed 1937's first feature-length film, Snow White’s, live action trailer.
The film stars Racheal Zegler as Snow White and Gal Gadot as her stepmother, the Evil Queen.
The trailer began with Zegler remembering how it was her father's kingdom, but after his death, her stepmother, the Evil Queen took hold.
The scene then switches to Snow White suggesting the Evil Queen to treat her subjects with “kindness”. However, the queen has no interest as she wants to be “the fairest of them all”, hinting towards shift in perspective from the original storyline.
As Us Weekly notes, the definition of “fairness” in the movie seems to be pointing towards equality instead of beauty.
The rest of the trailer stays true to its original source, showing Zegler in iconic Snow White's yellow-blue gown, and the witch manipulating the princess into eating the apple.
The newly-released trailer concludes with the 23-year-old's rendition of Waiting on A Wish, one of the original songs from the classic.
Previously, Zegler told Variety at D23 red carpet about the modern retelling of the movie She noted that the the protagonist's age has been changed from 13 to 18 and she is turned into a more independent character.
The movie is directed by Marc Webb and written by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson.
Snow White hits theaters on March 21st, 2025.
