'Sex & the City' star Kristin Davis announces dad's death in moving tribute
Kristin Davis and her family took some time to privately honour his memory according to instructions he left behind
Kristin Davis is mourning the loss of her father, who passed away after a decade-long battle with Parkinson's Disease.
The Sex and the City star shared the heartbreaking news with her followers on Instagram on November 19, describing her father as a brilliant, passionate, and devoted family man.
In her post, the 59-year-old actress revealed that the family held a celebration of life for her father, one that he had meticulously planned himself.
"My Dad passed away recently, and the family gathered for the celebration of his life that he had left detailed instructions for," she wrote. The event, which featured a jazz band, was a fitting tribute to a man who led an extraordinary life, from being born in a North Carolina cabin to delivering speeches about his groundbreaking psychology research around the world.
Reflecting on his last years, Davis shared, “For the last decade, he lived with Parkinson’s. I think about the devotion with which my mother cared for him… I’m so grateful for the support he got and the perseverance he showed.” She also expressed gratitude for the love and energy it took from those around him, adding, “We love you, Dad, and we are so grateful you lit up our lives and left us with so much.”
Co-star Cynthia Nixon responded to Davis’ post with heartfelt words, praising her strength and honoring her unwavering support for her family during this difficult time.
