Coldplay performed in Germany just a day after Taylor Swift wrapped up her three-night stint
Chris Martin is giving Swifties some emotional support.
After Taylor Swift wrapped up her Eras Tour shows in the city of Gelsenkirchen, Germany, Coldplay took the stage in the nearby city of Düsseldorf on Saturday, July 20.
With Swift’s departure still fresh and her absence heavily felt, Coldplay dedicated their song, Everglow, to the international pop sensation and her fans.
“Now this is for Taylor Swift because she left town,” said lead vocalist Martin, 47, as concertgoers erupted into cheers, according to a fanmade TikTok.
“This is for all of you who feel sad today because Taylor had to go to the next city. So we sing this love song, this heartbreak song, and send it to Taylor wherever she is today,” Martin declared as the band then went on to perform the song.
After Taylor Swift wrapped up her three-night stint in at the Veltins Arena, she took to her Instagram to praise the crowd for their energy and creativity.
“Those 3 Gelsenkirchen crowds were AMAZING, and so thoughtful???” Swift wrote in the caption accompanying a series of photos from the sold-out shows.
The multi-Grammy winner further highlighted the creative gestures from her fans in attendance, including their unique “signs and paper hearts, the ‘Betty’ wave, and tons of DIY ‘willow’ orbs made out of balloons + phone flashlights.”
