Mark Harmon spills the tea about his comeback to NCIS’ finale series
Mark Harmon dishes out details about his NCIS returns as Gibbs during Television Critics Association press tour
Mark Harmon has recently weighed in on NCIS return as Leroy Jethro Gibbs on CBS’ upcoming NCIS: Origins prequel series.
Speaking at the Television Critics Association summer press tour on July 13, Mark said, “It wasn’t so much a decision to leave, but the right timing to push away a little bit,” via US WEEKLY.
Reflecting on his 2021 exit from the show, Mark stated, “I was thrilled with the story line they came up with and how they handled the character. And the show continued on.”
When asked about returning to new show, the actor mentioned, “I have been asked that a lot.”
She added, “[But] I’ve always let the writers do what they want to do.”
Earlier in a TVLine interview, Mark opened up about making a comeback to NCIS, to which he responded, “Directly, like a phone call? Not that I’m aware of.”
Sharing details about NCIS‘series finale, Mark noted, “I don’t know. It’s really about feeling like you’re fulfilled with a role or complete with a role.”
For the unversed, Mark made his NCIS debut as Gibbs in 2003 and played the lead for 18 years.
“What has always drawn me here is the character I play and to keep it fresh and to keep it challenging,” added the actor about his exit in an August 2022 interview in the season 19 DVD release.
He further said, “Plot-wise, this character has taken the path that it did.”
