‘West Side Story’ actor, Tony Mordente, dead at 88

Tony Mordente, known for his iconic roles in West Side Story, has passed away at the age of 88.
People Magazine reported on Friday, June 14, that his daughter, Lisa Mordente, confirmed his passing.
According to his online obituary, the actor and choreographer died earlier this week on Tuesday, June 11. No reason
He first showcased his acting talents in the 1957 Broadway and 1958 West End productions of West Side Story, playing the role of A-rab.
He later starred in the 1961 film adaptation as Action. His contributions extended beyond acting.
He was a skilled choreographer, lending his talents to Broadway productions and television shows, including The Ed Sullivan Show and The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour.
According to Deadline, Mordente developed his skills as a dancer at the High School of Performing Arts and the American Ballet Theater School before transitioning to Broadway.
During his Broadway career, he met his first wife, Chita Rivera. They married and welcomed their daughter Lisa in 1958 before divorcing in 1966. Rivera passed away in January.
Mordente later married Jean Fraser in 1978, with whom he had his second daughter, Adriana Mordente.
