World's first underwater floating mosque in Dubai is worth $14.9 million as per its makers
Dubai has announced the building of the world's first underwater floating mosque worth $14.9 million.
One half of the structure will be above the water along with its sitting areas and a coffee shop, whereas, the other is submerged below, as per concept images shared with Khaleej Times.
With an underwater deck to be used as the praying area, the world’s first such structure will feature three floors. A unique experience of offering prayers underwater will be given to about 50-75 worshippers.
Ablution facilities and washrooms will also be present in this submerged level. Moreover, worshippers will have a unique experience of offering their prayers underwater.
As the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) in Dubai held a briefing about its religious tourism project, plans regarding the mosque were announced.
Ahmed Al Mansoori from the IACAD, told Khaleej Times that construction will begin “soon”.
The mosque’s exact location has not been revealed yet. “It will be very close to the shore … Worshippers will be able to walk through a bridge connected to the mainland,” said Al Mansoor.
Al Mansoor also stated that the mosque would be open to people of every religion, however, visitors will be required to dress modestly.
