Rajkummar Rao recently shared his experience of losing a film role to a star kid overnight, expressing his sense of unfairness about the situation.
In a recent interview, in which he appeared alongside Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar and his co-star Janhvi Kapoor, the 39-year-old actor revealed that he has lost roles to star kids.
During the conversation, the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai director addressed the insider-outsider debate, saying that sometimes it's used to grab headlines, mentioning that successful people often claim they felt like outsiders and lost roles to star kids.
On which the Stree star replied, “When I came to Mumbai, even I was told that ‘you have to attend parties’. Making contacts is not a problem, but going to a party and say, ‘Hi I am here to make contact.’ But having said that, I was supposed to do a film, but then suddenly I was not in that film overnight. Somebody who is known and happened to be a star kid got that part."
"I my mind I think it was not fair. Just because you can control things, you know people, you can make some calls, it is being unfair. That film never got made eventually. That guy was an insider but he could have also been an outsider who is successful and could do the same to you,” Rajkummar added.
Karan Johar produced sports drama Mr & Mrs Mahi starring Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor will be releasing on May 31, 2024.
