Madonna ends ‘historic’ Celebration Tour with 1.6 million fans
Madonna closes her Celebration Tour in Brazil with a ‘truly special ending’
Madonna marked one of the biggest events in her career of 40 years by ending her Celebration Tour in front of an audience of 1.6 million people with a free set on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The 65-year-old performed 26 songs, including hits like Like A Prayer and Vogue, with giant screens at the location to cater the huge audience.
According to The Sun, the audience was sprayed with water by the fire crews as temperatures topped 30C.
The “historic” attendance happened at the last date of Madonna’s tour.
“Madonna is unstoppable and she wants to mark her historic tour with a truly special ending,” a source told The Sun before the show.
“Fans from all over the world are expected to travel to see her perform in what is expected to be an extravaganza.”
The insider added, “Her Celebration Tour has already sealed itself as the pop concert of the decade.”
“But this concert will be the cherry on the cake,” they said. According to the outlet, the city’s tourism office had warned the fans of the show before.
“Madonna closes The Celebration Tour here in Wonder City, marking her 40-year career with a show that promises to be her biggest yet,” the agency remarked in their advertisement for the event.
