Imtiaz Ali recalls the making of 'magical' song 'Vida Karo'
'Vida Karo' is a soulful track from Imtiaz Ali's critically acclaimed new film 'Amar Singh Chamkila'
Imtiaz Ali recalled the making of his new film Amar Singh Chamkila's 'magical' song Vida Karo with lyricist Irshad Kamil and music composer AR Rahman.
In conversation with Radio Nasha, the critically acclaimed director shared AR Rahman came with the tune of the track at 2:30 in the night.
Imtiaz said that they were about to leave AR Rahman's studio, then the globally known musician told us "to switch off the lights and light up candles so that we could enjoy the process."
The Rockstar director disclosed that soon after making the tune, Irshad wrote lyrics, and the song was made within 45 minutes.
Moreover, Imtiaz shared that AR Rahman gave the idea to make Arijit Singh sing the song.
"There is a certain gravitas to the way a music composer sings his own song because he can feel it that much. Sometimes you need a singer who can get to that same level of attachment to the melody," he said.
It is pertinent to mention here that Imtiaz's new film is a biopic based on the tragic murder of the renowned Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila and his wife, Amarjot Kaur.
The movie, which is currently streaming on Netflix, stars Parineeti Chopra and Diljit Dosanjh in lead roles.
