Aditi Rao Hydari labels 'Heeramandi' director Sanjay Leela Bhansali as 'passionate'
Aditi Rao Hydari offered insight into her working experience with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Heeramandi
Aditi Rao Hydari disclosed that Heeramandi director Sanjay Leela Bhansali advised her against eating for a specific purpose.
During an interview with Rediff, the 37-year-old actress shared the story of how she secured the role in the series Heeramandi.
Offering insights into her experience with the director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Aditi heaped praise on him.
The Murder 3 actress said, “He's very passionate about everything he does. He's also very knowledgeable. He has true love for each and every art form that goes into making cinema, and that I find very infectious.”
“I would say that whatever one comes with in one's blood, when you walk on to a Sanjay Leela Bhansali set, it is complete surrender. You have to become a sponge," she added.
Aditi further continued, "People perceive actors in a particular way. They may be like, Oh, if you blow, she'll just fly away. She's so delicate! But for him, there's more to a person than that.”
“One day, he kept me hungry because I had to do a scene which was full of fire. He said, 'Aaj khana mat khana', (don't eat food today) and that helped me get that simmering sense of injustice.”
The web series also casts Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal, Taha Shah, Fardeen Khan, and Shekhar Suman.
Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar has been released on Netflix on May 1, 2024.
