Donald Trump reveals who's least popular in US
Earlier, Donald Trump called Governor Kim Reynolds disloyal as his former ally endorsed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis
In his fresh salvo against Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds (R) Sunday, former US President Donald Trump termed her "the least popular in the state" as the Republicans are set for the first nomination vote Monday amid the freezing temperatures.
Addressing his supporters at his rally in Indianola, Iowa, Donald Trump said: "So I don’t blame her for then picking somebody because we wouldn’t let her go to any rallies or anything. But here’s the thing I’m most proud of: She went from the most popular governor in the United States in two weeks to the least popular governor."
The 77-year-old also said: "She’s the least popular governor in the United States. But I just thought it was very disloyal."
Earlier, the four-time-indicted former president also called her disloyal as his former ally endorsed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in November last year instead of him.
Trump also claimed that his endorsement of her for governor saved her campaign.
"I ended up doing two rallies and giving her a very big endorsement, and she ended up beating a very rich, I don’t know who this guy is. All they said is he’s a rich, very good-looking farmer. Well, those are good credentials for Iowa right: rich, good-looking farmer. And he was going to win. And I came in, I saved her," Trump said.
Trump held the rally of his supporters amid the deteriorating weather conditions in the Midwestern part of the US where the temperature has been minus 20. Amid this cold, the Republican presidential contenders are bracing to face each other during the party nomination voting in Iowa on Monday.
The Grand Old Party (GOP) leaders also warned the citizens to brace for the harsh weather as the falling temperatures forced the Republicans to postpone their rallies.
As the Republicans are set to pick their candidate for the November 2024 elections, Trump was leading the race among other candidates in the polls with Nikki Haley, and Florida governor Ron DeSantis trailing behind.
North Dakota governor and former presidential candidate of 2024, Doug Burgum endorsed Trump Sunday. Florida Senator Marco Rubio — who was defeated by the former president in 2016 — also endorsed the business mogul.
According to the polls, Trump has 48% of support in the conservative, religious state, while DeSantis, slipped to third place, with 16% of support. Haley, however, was jumped to second — cashing DeSantis' lackluster campaign — 20%.
