Storm Finn: Super tornadoes in making as US braces for extreme weather after Nor'easter

The aftermath of the nor'easter that battered the Northeast and New England has paved the way for a new threat, with severe weather conditions threatening millions across the United States.

From Texas to the Carolinas, communities are on high alert for severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds.

Storm Finn is wreaking havoc in the Southeast, prompting warnings from the National Weather Service about potential tornadoes, strong wind gusts, and severe thunderstorms along the Gulf Coast. 

Simultaneously, a winter storm is surging across the Midwest, creating blizzard conditions from northeastern New Mexico to eastern Wisconsin, affecting Nebraska, Kansas, and Iowa.

The National Weather Service anticipates these storms to unleash "ferocious blizzard conditions with whiteouts," raising concerns about widespread disruptions. Already, Arizona has experienced travel disruptions due to severe weather-related crashes on the I-40 freeway, leading officials to caution against non-essential travel.

Flight operations have also been severely impacted, with over 9,000 flights either delayed or cancelled across the US. As of Monday, more than 1,000 flights face delays, and over 400 have been cancelled, adding to the challenges caused by Storm Ember, which recently blanketed parts of the Northeast, including New York, with 18 inches of snow. The nation braces for a turbulent week as severe weather threats persist, emphasizing the need for heightened precautions and preparedness.
