David Beckham sends Victoria flowers after Katherine Ryan's apology over 'offensive' joke

It all started with what Katherine Ryan later described as a "stupid joke" when she guest-hosted BBC's Have I Got News For You and compared Victoria Beckham with the offensive c-word.

The episode was recorded last November.

Originally, David Beckham was under discussion over an old email in which he allegedly blasted those who prepared the honors list of knighthoods.

He reportedly used the c-word profanity against them.

Maisie Adam, who was a panelist at the time, used the word while discussing the football icon.

But Ryan, separately, joked about the term by bringing up Victoria.

"I don't know that we are allowed to broadcast the c-word, but you did reference Victoria Beckham earlier, and we'll allow that," the presenter said at the time.

In response, viewers lodged a complaint at the BBC because the network owns the comedy show.

The BBC's Executive Complaints Unit (ECU) promptly began an investigation and found Adam's use of the c-word editorially justified because it was in the context of discussing David's alleged remark.

However, the committee found Ryan's phrasing of using Victoria as a punchline objectionable.

The host eventually apologized to the designer by reaching out to her personally.

Sharing a screenshot of a text message to Victoria, Ryan said, It is to make it clear it was a stupid joke, and I didn't mean any harm towards you at all."

After the apology, David sent his wife a bouquet, which she posted on Instagram.

Her caption read, "I love you."

According to the Daily Mail, the gesture was David's way of supporting Victoria.
