Zara Larsson calls out White House for using her music in violent TikTok clip

Zara Larsson has called out the Trump administration for using her hit track Midnight Sun in a TikTok promoting deportations.

On Wednesday, September 16, the White House shared a video clip on TikTok showing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers arresting people, with a song by a Swedish pop star playing in the background.

After the clip went viral, Zara criticized the Trump administration, stating that the video was "deeply humiliating" and had left her "truly disappointed."

“Like, I don’t even know what to say,” the 28-year-old singer starts off her own TikTok response. “I saw some comments. I got tagged in this obviously, and some people were like, ‘She’s going to be pissed.’ You know what? I’m just sad. I’m just really sad. That really makes me sad to see that, genuinely. My heart’s heavy.”

“I wish I could speak to whoever made this video. I wish I could talk to you and I wish I could help you remember that you and I, we aren’t that different. At all. And we’re not that different from the people in this video either. The biggest difference between us is that we were dealt a different hand in life," she continued.

The So Good himaker also discussed her upbringing in Sweden and the benefits she says came with being born there.

“I consider myself so lucky with the life I’ve been dealt," said Zara. "The fact that I am born in Sweden. I have healthcare. I’ve had an education. I’ve had all these opportunities just sort of laid out in front of me. I can travel. I get to do all of these amazing things. That’s luck. So much of that is luck.”

“And there’s people out there who are not that lucky. And they want to have a better life for their families or for themselves or for their children. I just don’t understand how it could be the worst thing in the world to be an undocumented immigrant. Like, I don’t understand that,” she added.
