Ryan Reynolds confesses his charm doesn't work on his kids: 'It's terrible for my self-esteem'

Ryan Reynolds has shared that his children remain unimpressed by his personality.

In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 49-year-old actor admitted he failed to impress his own kids with his charm.

He was asked, “You’ve made a career out of playing guys who could talk their way out of anything but what’s the one situation in real life where your charm just does not work at all?”

The Deadpool actor immediately replied that his charm actually does not work on his own children.

“Oh my kids. No chance. Like no, never… deadpan and everything," Ryan said.

“They understand what I’m doing but reject it wholesale. So it’s both, like ineffective and terrible for my self-esteem," added the Free Guy star.

For those unversed, Ryan shares four kids, James, Inez, Betty, and Olin, with his wife, Blake Lively. The couple generally keeps their children away from the public eye.

Work-wise, the actor is currently gearing up for the release of his forthcoming film, Mayday. Ryan plays the lead role in the film alongside Kenneth Branagh and Maria Bakalova.

The new action thriller will be released on Apple TV on September 4, 2026.
