Why did Zendaya vanish from social media as birthday tributes pour in

Zendaya has stepped back from social media.

The Spider-Man: Brand New Day actress' 62-year-old mom, Claire Stoermer, took to Instagram and posted a sweet birthday tribute for her daughter as she turned 30 but the school teacher admitted Zendaya, whom she has with her 66-year-old ex-husband Kazembe Ajamu Coleman, would not see her post as she is no longer active on social media.

Claire posted an adorable shot of The Odyssey star as a youngster, with the caption: "Happy 30th birthday to the love and light of my life!!”

"Even tho you’re not on socials anymore, and you won’t see this!! We just got off facetime!! (sic)"

However, Zendaya - who is married to her 30-year-old Spider-Man co-star Tom Holland - made an exception for her special day, returning to Instagram to mark her 30th birthday.

The Euphoria alum also uploaded an adorable picture of herself as a child, with the caption: "I can’t thank ya’ll enough for making the last year of my twenties so beautiful, I have so much to be grateful for and so much to look forward to, with love as always….here’s to 30!!!!! (sic)"

Fans flooded the post's comments section with birthday wishes, as one penned: "Happy birthday Z! You’re always an inspiration and I know this is going to be an amazing decade for you. You’re such an icon."

A second supporter typed: "So happy that you’re the celebrity I get to share a birthday with!! Happy 30th birthday twin (sic)."

This is not the first time the Dune: Part Three star has taken time away from posting on social media.

In October 2021, Zendaya revealed she takes breaks from social media to keep her mental health in check because she can get easily anxious or “overthink” things when she spends too much time online.
