Tim Curry's emotional words about death resurface after his passing

Tim Curry opened up about his views on death in one of his final interviews.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show star, who died at age 80 on August 25, 2026, discussed his thoughts on mortality during a 2025 interview with CBS Mornings.

When asked whether he feared the end of his life, gave a candid response, saying, "No, I don’t fear death."

Tim further went on to explain, “Well, I think it may be very comforting to go bye-bye – and I want to earn it!”

“I want to earn the privilege of not being here." But he was not “galloping towards it.”

When he was questioned by the interviewer that does he considered death a sense of relief, Tim simply said, “I think I will embrace it.”

Reflecting on the time in 2012 when the screen icon had a severe stroke, he said that it brought a fear he never expected, “I knew that a lot of people didn’t survive a stroke, and that he was an exception.”

“So, I was scared,” he said. Adding, “That was very weird.”

“I hated not being able to speak because I have to be told to shut up a lot. I love words. I love to communicate,” Tim further added.

The Hollywood star also revealed that he “thought immediately of [his] dad,” at the time, as his late father also suffered a stroke before death.

It is pertinent to mention that Tim Curry has mentioned his views on death in his 2022 memoir as well, stating, “People often balk when I say that, but I do not believe that a heaven or hell awaits me, or anything in between, though I would be curious to visit either.”

Noting, “If death comes for me peacefully and I fade gently from light into dark oblivion, why would I be afraid of it?”

“Sometimes, I rather think it would be a comfort,” the actor further wrote
