AI 'actress' Tilly Norwood's interview takes bizarre turn

An AI-generated "actress" named Tilly Norwood experienced a strange glitch during a live interview with Piers Morgan, suddenly switching to speaking Cantonese mid-sentence.

The moment occurred during Friday's episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored, where Norwood appeared to promote her upcoming film, Misaligned.

Norwood, a digital character created by Particle 6's AI division, was being interviewed alongside actor and director Tom Conti, who asked whether the other actors in her film were human or also AI-generated.

Norwood gave a vague response, saying, “It’s an interesting point, Tom,” before adding “My film Misaligned is a hybrid production, meaning real directors, writers and editors are still very much involved. It’s not about replacing anyone, but about exploring new ways to tell stories.”

Conti pressed for clarification, at which point Norwood briefly answered before unexpectedly speaking in Cantonese for about 15 seconds, confusing both Morgan and Conti.

“Ah, right. You’re asking about the other actors in Misaligned,” Norwood said after a pause, adding, “They’re all digital twins, just like me. It’s a hybrid production, which means…” the AI-generated actress said before switching to Cantonese.

When Morgan asked why she'd suddenly switched languages, Norwood apologised, explaining that she'd experienced a "little hiccup" before following up with a joke.

Norwood responded, “Oh, my apologies. It seems I had a little hiccup there. I certainly didn’t mean to start speaking Chinese or impersonate Piers there. Sometimes my wires get a bit crossed.”

“That was a bit of a curveball even for me,” she continued. “It’s usually a pretty smooth ride, but sometimes these things happen.”

The exchange quickly went viral after being shared on the show's social media account, racking up millions of views within a day.

Norwood first gained attention in 2025 after Particle 6's founder claimed multiple talent agencies had shown interest in representing the AI character, a statement that sparked major backlash within the entertainment industry.

SAG-AFTRA later issued a statement clarifying that Norwood is not an actor but a computer-generated character trained on the work of real performers without their consent or compensation, adding that audiences have shown little interest in content lacking genuine human experience.

Misaligned, described as a coming-of-age comedy-drama exploring AI-driven chaos, will mark Norwood's film debut, though no release date has been announced yet.
